Piast Castle in Racibórz - Station 06 – Memorabilia from the region
Description
In this room you can see memorabilia, mainly including books, published in the 19th and early 20th century, associated with Racibórz and the region. We propose to start exploring from the left side. In the first display are placed small booklets in German (photo 10.06.001). Next, you see an ad of a Steel Mill from Kapfenberg (photo 10.06.002), which had its branch in Racibórz. Most of the labels of beer bottles, located in the display, (photo10.06.003) come from the Prince’s Brewery in Racibórz, adjacent to the castle. Among the memorabilia you will also find bills and utility letters, also in German (photo 10.06.004-10.06.005), as well as old banknotes (photo 10.06.006). In another display is exposed a collection of German books, for example, about good manners, or a lexicon with a copy of a card of the Gutenberg Bible (photo 10.06.007-10.06.008). In the next displays you may see: documents and an old wooden pipe (photo 10.06.009-10.06.010); extensive publications (photo 10.06.011-10.06.015); pre-war photographs, for example of a group of fire brigade, and other commemorative documents telling about the life of the inhabitants of Racibórz (photo 10.06.016). Under the window, in four displays (photo 10.06.017-10.06.035) are: German-language books and pamphlets, cameras, old bills and bank notes, handheld boards for writing, and pre-war postcards. Next to the last wall, opposite the windows, there are two displays. In the first one you see, among others, pre-war photographs of the population of the region (photo 10.06.036). In the second there are book publications. (fot.10.06.037-10.06.040). It is noteworthy is the second from the top in which is a pre-war view of the castle chapel in Racibórz, and in the book below, on the left, you can see the interior of Saint Chapelle in Paris, to which the local chapel is often compared.
We now invite you into the room called “treasury”.
