Piast Castle in Racibórz - Station 07 - Treasury

Description

This room is located near the chapel of the castle and it is one of the oldest parts of the Prince’s House. After the revitalization of the castle the original Gothic brick walls were preserved in this room. One of the windows is topped by a sharp arch, characteristic of Gothic. In such a room we can do nothing but tell how people lived in a medieval castle. Therefore, firstly it is shown the reconstruction of armours from different historical periods (photo 10.07.001-10.07.003). Next to them are daily outfits (photo 10.07.004-10.07.005), many of which you can try in the presence of a guide and take a picture with them. During festivals and holidays, the castle hosts archery competitions - one of straw targets used during these events can be seen here. (photo 10.07.006). Attention, for misbehaving one can be closed in the stocks: two types of this medieval devices are set close to a wall (photo 10.07.007-10.07.008). You can also take a look at the two bombards and stone bullets (photo 10.07.009-10.07.011). All the room is guarded by local Kostek (Skeleton) (photo 10.07.012). On the wall there are two original wrought iron bars (photo 10.07.013-10.07.014), which once defended the entrance to the castle premises.

We now invite you to the next rooms, located on the lower floors. Along the way, you can take a look at the reconstructed banner with the coat of arm of the Silesian province, placed on the rail.
