Piast Castle in Racibórz- Station 08 - The tradition of the region

Description

The first of the room at the lower level is devoted to the population inhabiting years ago Racibórz and its surroundings. Racibórz Region can boast a specific folklore. Its location on the border of Upper Silesia, Opole region and the Czech Republic produced here a unique culture, visible even today in folk costumes and in the regional dialect. In the room in which you are now are gathered dozens of exhibits, everyday objects used years ago in Racibórz households. Firstly, it is worth to pay attention to the two female costumes (photo 10.08.001-10.08.002). Shirt decorated with embroidered flowers, worn on the top of the skirt, is the trademark of the local traditional clothing. Most of the items are exposed on a large, white sideboard (photo 10.08.003), which was a typical kitchen furniture. The pride of Racibórz homes were serviettes (photo 10.08.004) embroidered with genre scenes or funny slogans which made residents day nicer. On one of the shelves stand wooden moulds with flowery patterns (photo 10.08.005), which were used for making butter or cheese. Also interesting are two cutter (working) with handle (photo 10.08.006-10.08.007), and richly decorated cast iron weight on scale (photo 10.08.008). From other household appliances (photo 10.08.010-10.08.17) note the number of containers for food storage.

We invite you to the next room, showing the richness of nature in Racibórz district.
