Jasna Gora in Czestochowa - Station 13 - Holy Trinity Bastion
Description
St. Trinity Bastion (photo 01.13.001), like the other three, has a second name derived from the name of the patrons. It was the Szaniawski family to patronise the construction of this element of fortification. In the middle of the bastion there is a statue of Pope St. John Paul II (photo 01.13.002). The sculpture was created by Wladyslaw Dudek. The bronze statue measures 4.3 metres and was patronized by the Gołąb family. John Paul II is presented in a cassock. In the left hand he holds a zucchetto, while the right hand is raised in greeting. On the red marble pedestal there are plaques, including the front plaque with the papal coat of arms (01.13.003-01.13.006).
We invite you to the last bastion. On the way, on the wall, you will see the plaque commemorating the Chicago Polonia (Polish people in Chicago), which supports the modernization of the bastion of the Holy Trinity (photo 01.13.007).
